Qatar Snatch Last-Gasp Draw with Switzerland

Boualem Khoukhi's 90+4' equalizer rescued a point for Qatar against Switzerland, keeping their Group B hopes alive.

In a crucial Group B clash at the 2026 World Cup, Qatar snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw against Switzerland at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, thanks to a stoppage-time equalizer from Boualem Khoukhi in the 90+4th minute.

Switzerland took the lead in the 17th minute through a Breel Embolo penalty. Referee Said Martinez of Honduras pointed to the spot, and Embolo calmly converted to give the Swiss a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Qatar pushed forward in the second half, but Switzerland's organized defense held firm, repelling wave after wave of attacks. It seemed the Swiss would hold on for a vital win.

However, deep into stoppage time, Homam Al-Amin delivered a crucial assist, and Boualem Khoukhi found the back of the net to level the score at 1-1. The goal sparked wild celebrations among the Qatari players and fans.

The draw leaves Group B wide open. Both Qatar and Switzerland now have one point each, with everything to play for in their remaining group matches.

Qatar will look to build on this momentum, while Switzerland will rue the late lapse. For more match details, visit the match page and team page.
