CMG wins China rights: where to watch all 104 games

CMG and FIFA announced a new rights cycle on 15 May 2026. How mainland fans can watch every match—TV, apps and sublicensing explained.

For mainland China fans, the biggest pre-tournament question was simple: will every match be available legally? On 15 May 2026, China Media Group (CMG) and FIFA announced a new rights cycle covering the 2026 and 2030 men's World Cups plus the 2027 and 2031 Women's World Cups—exclusive mainland media rights including free-to-air TV, pay TV, internet and mobile.

Only CMG may purchase primary rights from FIFA in mainland China. Other platforms must obtain sublicenses after CMG signs—the same model used when Youku (2018) and Migu/Douyin (2022) carried the tournament.

Chinese media reported tough negotiations, with FIFA's asking price nearly double the Qatar cycle at one point. CMG eventually confirmed the deal; familiar CCTV voices publicly reassured fans that broadcasts were secured.

On 17 May, CMG unveiled its 2026 World Cup multimedia plan: CCTV-5 live coverage of 92 games, CCTV-5+ simulcasts for 12 decisive final group matches, plus Yangshipin and other CMG apps for multi-screen viewing. Some outlets stated all 104 games would be available free on CMG platforms—check daily schedules for confirmation.

Migu remains a major sublicense partner; Xiaohongshu has also been mentioned in partnership coverage. Pick the app that suits your device and commentary preference.
